Mediation may be used to help resolve divorce, custody, and other types of family disputes quickly and inexpensively. It is an alternative to “fighting it out” in court. Woody Hill is one of the few Family Court Mediators approved by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. When parties cannot communicate or just need help ironing out the details, Woody can assist with dividing assets and property, obtaining a realistic and workable shared parenting plan, and enabling parents to decide the fate of their children instead of having a judge dictate how things will be. A mediator does not decide who is right or wrong. Instead, a mediator facilitates communication, negotiation, and assists the parties in achieving an agreement to resolve their issues.
